Just Luke!

I spent the last few posts on the girls so I thought Luke needed one of his own!

Nothing better for breakfast than a stolen girl scout cookie out of the cupboard.  I snuck it out before mom and dad could catch me!
I don't think Auntie Deb intended me to use my birthday present this way!
 One of my favorite toys!
All of this fresh spring air sure can wear a guy out.
What better to do on a Sunday afternoon?  TP the kitchen, of course!

Sittin' down and having cold one!

Awards Day/Graduation

We celebrated Awards Day on May 24.  The girls received several awards and we were very proud of all they have accomplished.  I was taking pictures with my phone so they might not be very good.

We also celebrated Rachel's 6th Grade Graduation.  She has been at J.A. Hughes Elementary school since pre-school.  It is hard to believe she is moving on to Jr. High at Lafayette High School next year.  At least I will still get to see her everyday!

Here are the awards they received:
Jordan:  Excellent Teacher Helper Award, Book-It Award and AR (Accelerated Reading) Award
Sarah:  Book-It Award, AR Award, Crafty Crafts Award and Citizenship Award (nominated by her teacher for her kindness and helpfulness to all in the classroom)
Rachel:  AR Award, Million Word Club Award, Outstanding Academic Gold Award (signed by President Obama) and her 6th Grade Diploma
 Sarah receiving her Citizenship Award
 Jordan and her reading awards

Rachel and her 6th Grade teacher, Mr. Remick (also her cousin!)

Spring Programs

All three girls participated in a spring program at their school in early May.  Rachel's program was entitled "Home of the Brave" and was written and choreographed entirely by the 4th - 6th graders (with some guidance from their wonderful music teacher.)  Students picked out patriotic songs and wrote their show around the songs.

Sarah's program centered around Bully the Bullfrog who as moved into town.  The show teaches children how a bully can turn everything upside down in your world but if you treat him with respect and try to include him in your activities, he may just turn into a nice guy!

Jordan had her program the next afternoon.  Her class (along with the Kindergarten)  did a "Year in Review" of different songs and concepts they learned in music class.

 Ready for the big show!
Sarah as a frog for her show!
 Rachel showing Patriotic Pride.
Jordan in her best dress and ready for her show!
Receiving her "Excellent Teacher Helper" award from Mrs. Kleven

Piano Festival and Recital

Rachel and Sarah participated in a Piano Festival (competition) in Feb.  Here they are with their certificates for participation.  Sarah received 5 out of 5 points on her songs and Rachel received 4 out of 5.  Great job girls!

All three girls participated in a Spring Piano recital in May.  Rachel played two pieces and did very well.  The audience didn't realize she wasn't finished with her jazz piece and clapped a little too early so they didn't get to hear the whole song.  Their loss!  Jordan played a duet with her teacher and another piece all by herself.  Her first recital ever!  Sarah played two pieces for memory.  She got a little flustered on the 2nd piece but still did a nice job.

Ready to play!

Easter 2013

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter 2013.  The girls dyed eggs (Luke wanted to help but we thought he should wait another year.  This decision was based on how he looked after eating his birthday cake.)

The kids went to town for an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday.  Luke had his hunt inside the elementary school while the girls had to go outside.  Lots of treats were had by all.

We attended Easter services at church and then hosted the whole Wieland Clan over for a dinner of ham and all of the fixings.  There was a little too much snow on the ground to do the Easter Egg hunt outside so we had it in the basement.  It is always so nice to have the family get together.

Never too old for dying Easter eggs!
 Having fun.
Meeting the Easter Bunny for the first time - Luke wasn't too sure about it.
Look Mom - I found one!
Luke and his good friend Peyton R. having a fun time.
Beautiful Girls all dressed up for Easter.
Got early morning smiles from just about everyone!
The Wieland and Klipping cousins looking so prim and proper for Easter Service.
This is how they really want to act!
Thank you Easter Bunny!

Luke's 1st Birthday Party

We celebrated Luke's 1st Birthday with a party after the Easter Holiday was over.  Here are few pics of him eating his cake!
Todd made a super cake!  I hope Luke isn't afraid of clowns.
 Give me some cake!
 Yes - I have one!
Oops - I missed my mouth and started right with the hair.
Now I remember where my mouth is.
This cake sure is good!  Do I look like a smurf yet?
Okay - I'm finished.  You may wash me up now.
Cousin Jaden is helping me open presents.
