Birthday Bashes

It has been a month of celebrating birthdays in the Wieland family. We had a family get-together on Todd's birthday at the beginning of the month. The next week brought another family gathering to celebrate Jordan's 3rd birthday and Rachel's upcoming 8th birthday. Todd has said that he won't make a cake for the girls after they turn 5. I am not quite sure how that rule came to be. As you can see, Jordan's Clifford Cake is great! I think he should do cake decorating as a side business. Rachel's cake was really colorful and tasted great. That is all I can hope for when I make a birthday cake.

Happy Joe's Pizza is where we brought 9 little girls for Rachel's "friend" party last night. Thanks to my sister-in-law, Casey, for her help! I usually don't start my New Year's Resolution of getting healthy until Feb. because I can't stay away from birthday cake! Happy Birthday Todd, Jordan and Rachel!

Heat Wave? NOT!

We woke up to a very chilly morning in Northwestern MN. Here is a picture of our thermometer reading -40.4 degrees at 7:15 this morning. I think we were about -50 degrees when you figured in the wind chill and we still had school on time! I guess you have to be tough to live where we live. I went to a retirement investment meeting today after school and told Rachel I was signing up to save money so I could move to Florida when I retire. Then we won't have to deal with temps this cold. I hope you are staying warm where you are!

MAN'S Best Friend?

Our puppy, Sadie, has become best buddies with one of the farm cats. I think this cat's name is Charlie - there are so many I can't keep track. They love to snuggle together on the porch for naps. Here is a picture of them getting close. I don't think Sadie's best friend is Todd!

Happy New Year

The Wielands have had a super busy December! Jen had several programs and concerts to direct admist all of the christmas parties, caroling and church activities. Christmas break was much needed for mom and kids (although I think Todd is going to enjoy quiet lunches at home again!)

We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Todd's family and then traveled down to the Cities for a nice visit with Jen's family. We had to spend an extra day because it snowed 12 inches where we were staying! I think the winter storms are following us around.

Although it has been a really nice break, we are looking forward to getting back into a regular routine. We hope that everyone has a blessed 2009!
