Piano Festival & Other News

Rachel participated in her first Piano Festival last Saturday. She played two pieces for memory in front of a judge who grades her efforts. Rachel played as if she didn't have a care in the world and did a fantastic job! I was listening through the door (of course!). She received a superior rating of 5 points. You need 15 points to earn a gold cup so the earliest you could get one would be 3 years of superior ratings in a row. The judge asked me if I played piano and I told her that I did and was actually a music teacher. She said that really reflected in Rachel's playing because she really paid attention to all of the little details in her music. I was so proud of her! We celebrated at Dairy Queen after the festival. Great job Rachel!!

Sarah and Rachel finished their last basketball practice yesterday for another year. They have been going every Saturday for the last two months in order to sharpen their skills. Sarah is working really hard on dribbling the ball and loves all of the activities. Rachel's group has even started "playing" each other using defensive and offensive skills. I just hope they continue to enjoy the game and do NOT have their mother's athletic ability!

Jordan had pre-school screening last Monday and did fairly well (considering she just turned 3 in January.) She will be all ready to go to pre-school in the fall. We are hoping the district will move to all day/everyday Kindergarten for Sarah in the fall. It would be wonderful to not have to pay that hefty daycare bill.

It is still cold up here in Northwestern MN. We woke up to -14 below this morning. Todd has been busy looking after the baby calves being born. He is up a couple times throughout the night to check the cows. They are not very smart animals and tend to have their babies out in the snow and cold and not in the barn!

Sorry there aren't any pictures this time around. Maybe in the next post. Goodbye for now!
